Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza, Mexico
Merida to Playa Del Carmen via “Chichen Itza” aka chicken schnitzel. I’m not going to bother writing about Chichen Itza. It was over run with tourists, locals pushing their wares. The hotel bed in Playa has an envelope on it “perfect, I can use this for Vic’s card” says Emily and turns it over. Written on the front of the envelope in blue highlighter, “TIP”. Here’s a tip, don’t be presumptuous and maybe wait til we’ve used the room before asking for money. On the door hangs a sign that reads “no molestar”… “you should wear that around your neck”, says Emily. I will miss her dearly. Playa is hot, americanised, filled with filthy tourists. We find a bar with swings and 1 litre spirit mixers for $45 pesos. Winning. It’s our final night together and the mood is somber.
